UPS Delivers Largest Delivery of Expo 2020 in Dubai Ahead of 'World's Greatest Show'

 

UPS (NYSE: UPS) today announced the completion of a series of multimodal deliveries to the iconic gateway portals of Expo 2020 Dubai ahead of the official opening next year. UPS, the official logistics partner of Expo 2020 Dubai, has choreographed multiple shipments from Germany via the Port of Antwerp in Belgium and to Dubai's main commercial port in Jebel Ali.

 

"These extraordinary entry portals will welcome 25 million visits - equal to the population of Australia - and, likewise, the logistics required for these expeditions is nothing short of monumental," said Nando Cesarone, president of UPS International. The 21 x 30 meter carbon fiber structures were placed at the site's three main entrances, about a year before the opening of Expo 2020, on 20 October 2020. The entrances will transform the skyline of the Expo 2020 site and symbolize the futuristic spirit of the international exhibition.

The precision-machined portals were designed and built by HA-CO Carbon GmbH, one of the leading German small companies in Bavaria. In line with Expo 2020's sustainability theme, 90 percent of the material used to build the permanent areas of the site - including the portals - will be reused or reused after the event.

Expo 2020 has chosen UPS as its official logistics partner for an event that is billed as the "greatest show in the world" by the organizers, on a site roughly the size of over 600 football fields, with 192 countries confirmed for participation. To support Expo 2020, UPS draws on its experience as a logistic sponsor of the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
